15 month ban for impaired

Campbellton - John Phillips, 48, of Dalhousie pleaded guilty to impaired driving and driving without a valid licence when he appeared in Campbellton Provincial Court May 5.

Judge Pierre Dube heard that Phillips had been in a car accident near the Esso gas station on Renfrew St. on March 8, 2008. He was given the breathalyzer from which two readings of .13 were taken. The legal limit is .08.

Dube fined Phillips $1,150 for the impaired driving and $282.50 for the invalid licence he was carrying.

Because he was involved in an accident, Phillips was also banned from driving for 15 months.

Oh, that's good, yeah, those fines should definitely keep Phillips from doing it again lol ........ these sentences are a joke. People like Phillips will keep going, until they kill someone...... and then, I guess, a judge will maybe sentence him to a year or two.
