$62,500 cheque
Claude Lapointe (right) a director with Traduction NB Translation accepts a cheque in the amount of $62,500 from Campbellton-Restigouche Center MLA Roy Boudreau. The money will be used for Traduction NB Translation’s project, which is geared to the retention and the repatriation of graduates in translation services.
Seniors Alive program
The Seniors Alive program organized by the Dalhousie Golden Age Club was designed to encourage an active lifestyle among older people. Over a five month period about 70 participants engaged in physical activities that equaled walking across Canada and back twice. Dalhousie mayor Clem Tremblay joined them to celebrate their accomplishment.

There’s a beauty contest on the Internet that’s causing some stir and the site it’s on is based near the North Shore of New Brunswick.
15 month ban for impaired
John Phillips, 48, of Dalhousie pleaded guilty to impaired driving and driving without a valid licence when he appeared in Campbellton Provincial Court May 5.

The Canadian Model & Talent Convention was held May 1 to 4 at the Hilton Toronto Airport Hotel, featuring aspiring models and talent from Canada and the United States.

Canadian Parents for French Provincial Oratory Competition
The annual Canadian Parents for French Provincial Oratory Competition was held in Moncton on Saturday May 3. There were students all parts of the province competing. Heather-Ann Caldwell from Belledune represented District 15 in the Grade 8 Late Immersion Category and won first place. She currently attends Jacquet River School.
Banned for bad driving
A 56-year-old Rimouski woman was banned from driving for 18 months after a high speed chase near St. Quentin last autumn.

Former employees of the Dalhousie telephone office reunite
There was a time when Dalhousie had its own telephone office, upstairs in the former Royal Bank building. It moved there in 1931, after fire destroyed the former office. Recently, a group of former employees held a reunion at the Canton Restaurant in Dalhousie.
Students
At the Campbellton Middle School, when the instructional day is over, most students stay for activities run by the teachers. These activities can be sports, crafts, cooking, computer, games. One of those activities organized by teacher Joanne Currie is "Seven Steps to Change the World", an idea she borrowed from Canadian Living Magazine.
New programs for waste paint, scrap tires
Effective May 1, Recycle New Brunswick will be responsible for overseeing a new waste paint stewardship program, and will assume responsibility for the provincial Tire Stewardship Program, which the Tire Stewardship Board has overseen since 1996.
