Two months for breach

A 51-yearold Belledune man who had been released in June on an undertaking pending trial, was arrested last week on a breach of that undertaking.

Preston Mallaley pleaded guilty to breaching the undertaking he signed before a judge on June 11 that forbade him from drinking liquor. He was arrested July 16 after the Belledune RCMP had been called to a fight on Main St.. Members arrived and noticed a very intoxicated, and somewhat injured, Mallaley whom they arrested. He appeared before Judge Denis Lordon on July 17 and pleaded guilty in Campbellton Provincial Court.

Lordon scolded Mallaley who had served time in the past for the same offence and sentenced him to two months in jail.

Mallaley had been in court in June to answer to three charges, including causing more than $5,000 in damage to an ATM at the Belledune Scotiabank. He pleaded guilty to that charge and was released until a Sept. 4 trial for assault.
