Lorne sees coke bust

Campbellton - A large drug bust in Lorne last December has resulted in a number of charges.
Const. Yves Allain of the Bathurst RCMP (formerly of the Belledune detachment) said March 17 that a number of people in the community have been charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute (trafficking), possession of other drugs such as oxycodone and marijuana as well as a number of firearms-related charges after arrests were made Dec. 14.
Some of those charged made their first court appearances March 17.
Allain said that in executing five simultaneous search warrants in Lorne, eight people were arrested as part of Operation Jardinage, as well as five or six in the Campbellton area.
Most of those asked for an adjournment for election and plea to speak with a lawyer, while others pleaded not guilty and had trial dates set.
