Robinsonville - The Upsalquitch River Appreciation Committee is proud to announce that the Fourth Annual Upsalquitch River Appreciation Day will be held on Sept. 6, 2008 at the Robinsonville Fire Hall, beginning at 1 p.m.
The event is organized so that the public can become more aware of the importance of protecting the Upsalquitch River and other Restigouche area rivers.
"Our rivers are facing many environmental problems. As citizens, we have to be responsible towards our rivers and educate ourselves. Government and industry also have the responsibility to help us protect our rivers and our river heritage. The Restigouche area's rivers are a major economic asset for Northern New Brunswick. The economic and social importance of our rivers and the economy it supports should be recognize by all society," said Ann Murray, member of the organizing committee.
During the event, the public will be invited to visit many booths which will offer information from various organizations and individuals.
At 1 p.m., opening ceremonies will take place, followed by a Jaws of Life demonstration. Booths will open at the community centre attached to the fire hall.
A Chinese auction will take place at 2 p.m. and the bluegrass music will start an hour later. A raffle draw will take place at 4:30 p.m. and the event will close at 5 p.m. All afternoon, hot dogs, hamburgers, tea, coffee, pop and juice will be sold.
The Upsalquitch River Appreciation Committee would like to take this opportunity to thank the many people who donated and also the individuals that are buying tickets for our raffle. Those fund raising activities are making the event free of charge to the public.
