Accused committed to trial

A Val d’Amour man was committed to stand trial after appearing in Campbellton Provincial Court last week on assault charges.

Denis LeBlanc had his preliminary inquiry before Judge Yvette Finn on July 16 where the Crown called just one witness, the victim, whose testimony was enough for Finn to decide a trial was warranted.

LeBlanc will stand trial later this year on one assault charge and one uttering threats charge. The trial date will be set at the next Motions Day for the Campbellton Court of Queen's Bench.
