Police say that the girl ran away and police were called the next day. Local RCMP called upon the services of a RCMP forensic artist and came up with a composite sketch of a suspect.

The man has short, slightly spikey dark hair and a moustache. He has a ring pierced through his lower lip, left side, and an ear-ring in his left ear. The sketch is given a rememblance factor of eight out of ten.

Campbellton RCMP Ops NCO Sgt. James Bates said that the girl was unable to tell police what colour the vehicle was, or even if it was a car or a truck. She was also unable to describe his clothing, but did say that he spoke French. Bates said that RCMP were only called the next day because the girl told a third party first, who then told her parents.

The RCMP has stepped up patrols in the area and will be following up with the schools to sensitize children to this potential danger and to stress the importance of reporting these incidents to parents, teachers and police. The RCMP is continuing its investigation into the matter and requests the public's assistance in identifying the person in the sketch.

Anyone with any information is requested to call the RCMP at 1-888-506-RCMP (7267) or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS
