Carrier upsets Roy

Charlo - The region's only female mayor has been denied a second term by voters.
Andre Carrier upset incumbent Sonia Roy for the top spot in Charlo by 482 votes to 329.
Carrier said that he was overwhelmed by the results.
"The voters decided that they were due for a change," he said. "The former mayor did the job she could. Now, I'll see what I can do."
Carrier said that he is very thankful to the people who supported him and pledged to work with the council and do whatever he can to support them. "It's up to me to rally the new team," he said.
Joining Carrier on council will be incumbent Denis McIntyre (664), incumbent Eric Perry (619), incumbent Doug Petersen (544), Roger LeClair (491) and incumbent Edith Morris (398).
Two other candidates for council seats, former mayor Jacques Allard (392) and Jocelyne Comeau (377) were unsuccessful.
There were 1,157 eligible voters in Charlo with 820 of those casting ballots, for a voter turn-out of 70.87 per cent.
