Charlo, Miramichi tag team

Charlo - Charlo and Miramichi Airports have created an alliance to enhance air service to northern New Brunswick. This decision to work closely together was made at a meeting of several mayors and representatives of both airport commissions held in Charlo on May 1.
Following the meeting, Charlo Mayor Sonia Roy said in a press release "This partnership will greatly assist the economic revitalization of Northern New Brunswick."
Miramichi Mayor John McKay said "I'm excited about this new partnership which will restore passenger service to both the Miramichi and Charlo Airports".
Both mayors claim that the two airports represent nearly $100,000,000 of state-of-the-art infrastructure which seems to attract new interest from several air carriers. The intention of this alliance, they say, is to connect northern NB with air service to the larger cities of Canada.
The mayors say that restored passenger service to the Charlo and Miramichi Airport will allow residents of Northern New Brunswick to access employment throughout Canada while maintaining homes and families here. The main objective of this airport service alliance is to promote economic opportunities while improving the quality of life for the traveling public.
The move seems to counter a demand by some in Bathurst to build a new airport there.
