Moncton Beavers now Dieppe Commandos

There is a new team in the Maritime Junior A Hockey League, sort of.

The Moncton Beavers have decided to move a few kms. from their home at the Tim Hortons 4 Ice Centre in the Hub City to the City of Dieppe. The team will keep its management and coaching staff.

The new name of the team, which will remain in the Roger Meek Division with the Restigouche Jr A Tigers, is the Dieppe Commandos.

No Abbies next year

The Roger Meek Division of the MJAHL will be down to just five teams this year after one of the teams has requested a year's leave of absence.

The Charlottetown Abbies, who compete for fans in the capital city with the PEI Rocket of the QMJHL, has asked the board of governors for a one-year leave of absence to look into financial options or to even possibly sell the team.

Left in the Meek are the Restigouche Tigers, the Dieppe Commandos, the Summerside Capitals, the Woodstock Slammers and the Miramichi Timberwolves.
