Balmoral wins gold, silver

Oromocto - Soccer teams from Balmoral were mining medals at the Under 14 soccer provincials in Oromocto recently.

The Balmoral Under-14 girls' soccer team won the provincial championship in Oromocto recently.

Both the boys and the girls' teams made the finals in the title event held outside Fredericton Aug. 22-24.

The girls ended their perfect season with a win (20-0-1) in the final to take the gold medal. They beat the host team of Oromocto in the final match by a score of 3-0.

Shanie-Line Bernard score the game winning goal while Renelle Savoie scored twice, bringing her total to 48 goals on the season.

Marissa Philippe got the shutout for Balmoral while Karissa St-Pierre won the MVP.

The boys squad lost in the final match 2-1 to the Saint John Soccer Club and came home with the silver medal. Dominik Arseneault scored for Balmoral.

The Dalhousie U14 boys were also at the championship. They finished their season with a very respectful 4th place finish, losing the bronze medal match to Oromocto by a score of 1-0.
